i am in the mood...

...to give stuff away. AUSTRALIA ONLY.
i have a lot of really good stuff. i spent the last few years hoarding mass quantities of thrifted treasures in america and i think it might be time to spread those lovelies out to the rest of australia.
i have a number in my head between 1 and 20. the commenter that corresponds to that number gets a goodie parcel. a good one. really good. it might take a few posts to get to the number but i figure it will be fun for all.
in the mean time, here are some fun things to think about. both of my boys have the mega-shits. it is so much fun. my house smells like poo no matter what i do. another thing, my insomnia has decided to return after a medically induced holiday. i wake up at two in the morning and my eyes will. not. close. my four month old can sleep through the night but i can't. lame. here is an actual good thing, i am working on getting some work here in perth. things are looking very good for a monthly gig with one of my very favorite places in my neighborhood. the people are great, the space is lovely and the food is gorgeous. it will be equal parts simple and challenging. perfect. (my other job is a food photographer, by the way.) wish me luck!

fit like a glove

munchy has a new pair of jeans. they are thirty years old. they fit him like they were made for his body. they were mine, then my brother wore them, then my mama gave them to her very good friend cece whose four kids wore them and now my children get their turn. cece saved them all these years with me and my future children in mind. when i pull them onto munchy's tiny frame i am reminded of how disposable clothing, particularly children's clothing, has become. it is a shame. very rarely does max grow out of a pair of jeans before he has worn them out. but not these old, worn, used and abused, thirty year old levis. they will be around for many more generations without a doubt.

a new ...ing

reading :: nothing. no books for me.
listening to :: triple j and rtr. two amazing radio stations. i never thought i would be able to listen to the radio again after leaving seattle and kexp. i still miss kexp very much, but rtr especially hits the spot.
eating :: tom yum soup. at least once a week. mmm...
watching :: the new season of weeds. fantastic.
planning :: munchy's second birthday party! so exciting!
feeling :: nice and cool. from what i hear from the locals this has been an unusually cool and wet winter so far. i am trying to soak it all up while i can. the heat of summer is right around the corner. yuck.
saying :: not much. munchy asks what everything is but hardly ever repeats anything back to us. have no fear. we are being super proactive about it. once again the australian public health system is blowing me away. i love it here.
pushing :: buttons. my buttons. munchy is hitting his terrible twos a little early much to my mother's delight. she says i am getting paid back for being such a horrible child. i believe her.
anticipating :: sharon and lisa's visit! two of my very favorite people are going to be here, in perth, in about a month. i am so excited.
cleaning :: lotsa poo. my boys take turns pooping so that i am almost always changing a dirty nappy. that's right, i said nappy, not diaper. i live in australia now people. time to adapt.
drinking :: not out of avent bottles anymore. stupid chemicals. i hate them.
