music right this instant...

kanye's new song is blowing my mind. the first time i heard the song i thought he might be going out on a limb even though i knew i liked the song and then, all of a sudden, i craved the thing. so good. i could write an eleventh grade essay on the symbolism in the video, but i probably won't. but i would get a b+ for sure though. i would talk about the future and the primal nature of the drumming and mr. coons would eat that shit right up. he always did.

at this very moment i am listening to genesis' second home by the sea. i have been on a music from my youth kick lately. supertramp's breakfast in america. billy joel's the stranger (that was 'house cleaning' music for my parents, they blasted it as loud as i do now). the soundtrack from the man from snowy river. george michael's faith. any michael jackson. i heart him big. early madonna back when she was super slutty. even zztop. this is one of my favorite songs ever. it conjures the best of memories.

still listening to genesis over here. oh dear, taking it all too hard just came on. it is not possible for me to listen to this song just once. usually i just put it on repeat until scott tells me to stop it already. it would be the song i would sing to paula, randy and simon if given the chance. i love how phil just busts into the chorus straight away. killer.

and hey, aussies, give this song a listen. does it remind you of a young australian pop composer? maybe? a little? give up? it reminds me of my beloved gotye. the melodies and percussion in particular. oh phil and wally, why don't the two of you get together and write my favorite album i've never heard? please? for me?
