music right this instant...

kanye's new song is blowing my mind. the first time i heard the song i thought he might be going out on a limb even though i knew i liked the song and then, all of a sudden, i craved the thing. so good. i could write an eleventh grade essay on the symbolism in the video, but i probably won't. but i would get a b+ for sure though. i would talk about the future and the primal nature of the drumming and mr. coons would eat that shit right up. he always did.

at this very moment i am listening to genesis' second home by the sea. i have been on a music from my youth kick lately. supertramp's breakfast in america. billy joel's the stranger (that was 'house cleaning' music for my parents, they blasted it as loud as i do now). the soundtrack from the man from snowy river. george michael's faith. any michael jackson. i heart him big. early madonna back when she was super slutty. even zztop. this is one of my favorite songs ever. it conjures the best of memories.

still listening to genesis over here. oh dear, taking it all too hard just came on. it is not possible for me to listen to this song just once. usually i just put it on repeat until scott tells me to stop it already. it would be the song i would sing to paula, randy and simon if given the chance. i love how phil just busts into the chorus straight away. killer.

and hey, aussies, give this song a listen. does it remind you of a young australian pop composer? maybe? a little? give up? it reminds me of my beloved gotye. the melodies and percussion in particular. oh phil and wally, why don't the two of you get together and write my favorite album i've never heard? please? for me?

purple and brown makes me happy...

not the color combo, silly. i am talking about the little animated shorts featured on nickelodeon.
drawn posted a purple and brown video yesterday. i haven't seen these guys in forever. so happy to see that they are all over youtube. giggles are only a click away.

max and i giggle like stoners when we watch these videos together.

wordle is kinda cool plus other net specials...

check out wordle. i entered in my blog's address, tweaked the settings and voila! a "word cloud."

i like it. i can picture my favorite quote in cloud form. sort of. guess i need to figure out what my favorite quote is first.

plus...
incredible food photography by kate mathis.
school of everything is "a beautifully simple idea using the web to connect those who have something to teach with those who want to learn." word. (i think i saw this on boingboing)
barbapapa. i wish this was on tv in australia. boo.
i need to spend some real time on mfr. always on the look out for new music.
check out the beauty of eveline tarunadjaja. refined, simple and fancy all at the same time.

yummy monday number nine, the friday edition...

it isn't monday, but today is still yummy.
i got a wild hair yesterday, did a quick inventory of what was in the fridge, consulted recipezaar's recipe sifter and got cookin. the result? freaking fantastic!
as you probably know by now, i do not follow recipes. can't do it. too many rules. so i did my own thing for the filling but i did follow the recipe for the bread for the most part. just a few substitutions for my little allergy man (soy milk and soy margarine).

the recipe i followed is here. please try it out. i added garlic, paprika and carrots to the filling. next time i will be adding a little spinach, much more cabbage and maybe some leeks. seriously yummy.
